Thanks to the community’s generous support of the Campaign to Transform our Parks, York City Parks Conservancy has allocated funding for capital improvement projects in several York City parks.
Girard Park
In partnership with Bring on Play and other local supporters, a new play structure was installed in a new location in Girard Park. Project completed September 2019.
Penn Park
A set of solar lights was installed to replace a portion of nonfunctional lighting in Penn Park. Project completed December 2019.
Veterans Memorial Park
Funding for a new walking path, benches, and receptacles along the streambank in Veterans Memorial Park. In tandem with streambank revitalization efforts supported by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Department of Environmental Protection, and York County, this project enhances the accessibility and beauty of the park and surrounding community by adding an extension of the Broad Street Greenway to the Veterans Memorial Gold Star Healing and Peace Garden. Project completed July 2021.
Kiwanis Lake: Funding for the Kiwanis Lake Clean Water Project, an environmental stewardship effort organized by the Rotary Club of York and supported by the City of York, in-kind donors, local foundations, and club members. Additional support was provided for mature tree plantings within the Kiwanis Lake Rookery. Project completed fall 2022.
