About Us

About Us

Our Mission. To preserve, restore, and improve public parks within the City of York.

Our Vision. Collaborate to transform all York City parks into safe, healthy destinations inclusive for all people to enjoy for generations.

Our Core Values. Collaboration, health, inclusion.

A New Model. In 2007, the City of York and York County Community Foundation commissioned a review of parks conservancies across the country to learn how they are structured, sustained, and performing. The review determined the most successful conservancies had raised endowment funds to support physical improvements in the parks.

Our Plan. In 2017, York City Recreation Corporation was reorganized with a new board of directors and renamed York City Parks Conservancy.

The Campaign. In 2018, the Campaign to Transform our Parks was launched with Tony Campisi and Larry Miller as co-chairs and Bruce Arians as honorary chair. As of January 2023, approximately $2.5 million has been raised to preserve, restore, and improve public parks within the City of York
